Practical guide / no Seller Central access required
How to check an Amazon title before publishing.
Character count is the measurable part. Product-type context and claim evidence still require a person. This workflow keeps those two confidence levels separate.
Five-step Amazon title check
- 01
Count every character
Include letters, numbers, punctuation and spaces. For the announced non-media rule, the working maximum is 75 characters including spaces.
- 02
Confirm the scope
Check whether the item is in a media category and whether Seller Central shows a more specific requirement for the product type.
- 03
Keep identity before persuasion
Preserve the brand, product type and facts a buyer needs to distinguish the item. Remove repeated adjectives and promotional phrases first.
- 04
Do not manufacture a clean rewrite
A shorter title is not safer if it adds unsupported material, compatibility, safety or performance claims. Use only facts you can verify.
- 05
Run a second policy pass
Review comparative language, urgency, price claims and category-specific restrictions separately from the character count.
A fact-safe cutting order
- Remove sale, discount, urgency and shipping language.
- Delete repeated benefits and duplicate product nouns.
- Keep one version of size, count, color or compatibility facts.
- Recount, then verify the remaining facts against the product record.
