COUNT
What belongs in the count
Count letters, numbers, spaces and punctuation in the final title string. Do not count the HTML around a title or a separate Item Highlights field. Listing Audit trims leading and trailing whitespace, then measures the pasted title in the browser.
Letters + numbers
Every visible letter and digit contributes to the total.
Spaces
Spaces between words are included in the announced maximum.
Punctuation
Hyphens, commas, slashes and other punctuation also occupy characters.
METHOD
Three practical ways to recount
- Browser check: paste the final title into Listing Audit. The count stays in the browser and is evaluated separately from claim-review flags.
- Excel or Google Sheets: place the title in A2 and use
=LEN(TRIM(A2)). Check that internal spacing matches the final draft. - Seller workflow: recount the exact text after the last edit, rather than relying on an earlier draft or a word count.
BOUNDARY
A clean count is only one check
A result at or below 75 characters does not prove category acceptance, ranking, sales performance or account safety. Product-type requirements, repeated characters, promotional wording and unsupported claims remain separate questions.
This page reports the announced public threshold. It cannot see seller-submitted fields, account notices, catalog edits, suppression or other execution status.
